 Briefly about:

The National Choir Association from Romania (ANCR) was founded on the 29th  of September 1990, being a nongovernmental and nonprofit organization, with legal personality. ANCR is an artistic cultural organization of professional and non-professional choir ensembles , including all the categories of choirs: mixed, children,  equal – voices ensembles,  local/regional ensembles, public/private organizations. Most of them belong to prestigious professional institutions, such as National Opera Choir Bucharest,  Romanian Philharmonics and represent current and potential employers for the music student graduates.  ANCR established connections and cooperates as an active partner with European choir associations, such as "EUROPA CANTAT", where ANCR is a member since 1991.
ANCR coordinates the whole choir movement in Romania, being one of the oldest organizations from the Romanian music life.
The president of the ANCR is Voicu Enachescu, expert and choir conductor, with an important experience in the field. He is currently conducting one of the most prestigious ensembles in Romania, "Preludiu" Choir, which functions within the Cultural Institution "Tinerimea Romana". This public institution is financed by and subordinated to the  Romanian Ministry of Culture and consists in numerous artistic ensembles most of them formed by students and alumni from National University of Music Bucharest.
ANCR ‘s main objectives:

  • Reactivating the choirs – which, from different reasons, stopped their activity
  • Setting up new choirs (of pupils, youth, adults, of equal and mixed voices, religious), etc. and constituting as many as possible of them into associations with juridical personality, including choir singers and other music lovers.
  • The orientation in terms of repertoire of the choir conductors and the improvement of their interpretative capacity
  • Promoting the Romanian choir creation and asserting it abroad.
  • Getting information and supporting the ensembles for participating in national and international festivals and competitions.
  • Cultural changes between Romanian and similar foreign choirs
  • Restoring the position of choir music in the university curriculum, according to its role and play in students’ training, by offering internship stages to interested students (choir and conducting practice)
  • Participation at national and international juries/committees, with the most representative specialists in the choir music field.

ANCR has been involved in organizing and managing several choir festivals/concerts/recitals: for the last 20 years: The International Choir Festival "D.G.
