Briefly about:

National University of Music Bucharest is a professional institution of education, research and music creation from Romania, with more than 150 years of tradition. Its cardinal values are the followings:

  • the importance of music in building an actual, multi-cultural and European integrated society, as the most representative example of efficiency in the non-verbal communication.
  • the necessity of an individual education – as the fundament of reaching the musical performance.
  • the creative integration of all the levels of music education, from childhood to maturity, including here the lifelong learning process.
  • encouraging the ideas exchange, experiences and opinions, so as the critical reflection in education, learning and promoting own values, as efficient for the institutional development.

National University of Music Bucharest has two faculties: The Faculty of Performing Arts (departments: Orchestra Instruments, Keyboard Instruments and Chamber Music, Singing and Arts of Music Performance) and The Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Music Pedagogy (departments: Composition, Musicology and Science of Music Education, Orchestra Conducting and Complementary Instruments) which provide all the levels of studies, a Doctoral School (providing professional and scientific Doctoral studies), The Research, Innovation and Information Direction (comprising: The Center of Scientific Research and Artistic Projects – CCSAA,  The Electro acoustics and multimedia Center – CmeM, The Romanian Music Information Center – CIMRO, The Early Music Center – CMV, an International Relations Department, an Artistic office and other academic and non-academic structures.
The academic staff comprises 170 of teachers and the number of students enrolled  is ~1000.
As a result of its strategy of internationalization, UNMB is an active partner of the European Association of the Conservatories (involved in projects & events, such as POLIFONIA, Early Music Platform, IRC Meeting and Annual Rectors’ Congress) and develops and promotes international and regional professional networks (ERASMUS, CEEPUS, Fulbright). 
One of the main aims of the UNMB is to correlate its educational offer with the requirements of the labor market, throughout a flexible and innovative curriculum.
